This was a heart wrenching continuation of Divine Rivals. Roman has been taken by Dacre and Iris is left to figure out what to do and how to survive without her husband. Roman can't remember anything from before he was taken, and Iris is determined to find another typewriter to try and contact him.
As they write back and forth again the stakes are much higher, but he falls for her all over again, despite not knowing that she is the girl he dreams of. As his memories return, so does his pain. Thrown together in uncanny circumstances, Iris and Roman must figure out how to best continue their fight for Enva, as Dacre increases his hold on humans. Against impossible odds, will they be able to defeat him? Will they even survive it? Will those they love?
This tore me apart in the best ways, and it was so sweepingly romantic and moving. A must read duology!
